Second Lieutenant Michael Chandler, CD, is nominated for work in honoring Veterans and as well as his work with the 2979 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps [RCEME] in High Level.
For the past 18 years, 2Lt Chandler has been an active member of the Cadet Instructor Cadre. He has helped fundraise and organize battlefield tours of Europe for his cadets with a focus on the battlefields where Canadians fought. In addition to his work with the cadets, he has actively organized the local Remembrance Day ceremony since 2006. For the past 3 years, he has also been involved with the No Stone Left Alone Campaign, ensuring that all deceased Veterans in the area continue to be honoured during Remembrance Day.
2Lt Chandler also held the position of Sergeant-at-Arms for 5 years at The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #274 before it’s permanent closure in 2012. Following the disbandment of the branch, he remained involved with The Royal Canadian Legion, ensuring that the town of High Level continued to participate in the Poppy Campaign as well as the Remembrance Day ceremony every year. He also sits on the Remembrance Banner Committee with the Town of High Level where he helps in creating banners honouring the local Veterans.
