Staff Sergeant (Ret’d) Joseph L MacDougall

Staff Sergeant (Ret’d) Joseph L. MacDougall is a Veteran of the RCMP nominated for his service with The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #76, and his dedication in helping his fellow Veterans.

He is the Service Officer for Branch #76, where he assists more than 100 Veterans and their families with a wide variety of requests. From assisting them with applications for benefits to helping them with appeals, financial and housing issues, he has done an exemplary job for his comrades. He has given much of his free time to educate himself on the ongoing changes to Veterans Affairs Canada’s benefits programs in order to be able to give the best advice to the Veterans and their families.

He is the coordinator of the Medical Loan Cupboard, a program that loans medical equipment for free to Veterans who are in need. He performs routine maintenance of equipment, organizes repairs and coordinates purchasing of new equipment when necessary. He has dedicated hundreds of hours to ensure the success of this program.

For the past 5 years, he has been the Poppy Fund Coordinator. He oversees the funds and makes sure they are spent assisting Veterans and their dependents.
