Stephen Cooper

Burlington, Ontario

Mr. Cooper is a 22-year Veteran of the Canadian Forces who served in the Navy. He is 1st Vice President of The Royal Canadian Legion, and the editor and publisher of the Legion branch newsletter. He chairs both the Bar and Youth and Education committees and sits on or assists with various committees, including the Poppy, Public Relations, Ways and Means and the House Committee. Mr. Cooper was instrumental in resurrecting his branch's Youth and Education, Remembrance Poster and Literary competition programs and was successful in re-establishing the Remembrance School Visit program. He is a long-standing member and Colour Party Commander of the Burl-Oak Naval Veterans, whose objective is to preserve naval traditions and encourage remembrance. Mr. Cooper has also served in numerous roles with local Sea Cadets, including that of commanding officer, which helps instill leadership and citizenship among community youth, as well as generate an interest in the Canadian Forces.
