A Second World War Veteran, Mr. Kelly has been an active member of a number of Veterans' organizations including The Royal Canadian Legion, the Army Navy and Airforce Association in Canada and the Last Post Fund. His dedication to the welfare of Veterans was evident in his concerted efforts to establish the Veterans Memorial Manor, a facility which houses and rehabilitates Veterans in Vancouver. The Manor houses 134 Veterans, and was the first of its kind in Canada. For this accomplishment Mr. Kelly was granted Life Membership in the Veterans Memorial Housing Society in 1985. Mr. Kelly has also been actively engaged in the British Columbia Branch of the Last Post Fund for the past 16 years, serving in a number of executive positions. He has been active in the pursuit of appropriate grave markers for the many unmarked Veterans' graves in the Province and in particular, for the Mountain View Cemetery in Vancouver. Mr. Kelly is an accomplished facilitator and coordinator acting as liaison between his Legion Branch and various community action groups in the Mount Pleasant area. Mr. Kelly has been a devoted advocate on behalf of Veterans and seniors for the past forty years.
