Stuart K. Vallières

Mr. Stuart K. Vallières is a Second World War Veteran of the Royal Canadian Air Force. For the past several years, Mr. Vallières has graciously represented Veterans at commemorative ceremonies and at events in his community during Veterans’ Week. He also visits schools for Remembrance Day ceremonies, helping young Canadians to learn about the achievements and sacrifices of Canada’s Veterans. Mr. Vallières has been a loyal member of The Royal Canadian Legion for the past forty-five years, a director of the National Council of Veteran Associations in Canada for the last ten years, and national president of The War Amputations of Canada for the past five years. Acting as service officer of these associations, Mr. Vallières has been successful in assisting Veterans with their claims and selflessly helps them apply for any benefits and services to which they may be entitled. His assistance has helped scores of Veterans receive additional benefits. Mr. Vallières has also been a pioneer of the Child Amputee Program, which offers comprehensive services to child amputees and their families, including financial assistance, regional seminars and peer support. He has also been involved with several other community organizations, including Meals on Wheels and the local senior’s active living centre.
