Thomas P. Waters

Prospect, Nova Scotia

A member and Past-President of his local Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL), Mr. Waters has served in several positions within the Legion's Council since joining the RCL in 1975. Over the years, Mr. Waters has developed outstanding skills in the art of raising funds and successfully raised $25,000 toward the construction of the new Cenotaph at Camp Hill Residence in Halifax. He also played an instrumental role in its design. Mr. Waters also facilitated the raising of $250,000 for the Memorial Gardens at Camp Hill, and $178,000 for a new bus for wheelchair transportation. Mr. Waters is a keen advocate of Veterans and has worked tirelessly on their behalf, both at the grass roots and at Provincial Command levels. A Council representative at Camp Hill, Mr. Waters attends weekly meetings where he ensures that the needs and concerns of Veterans are addressed in a timely fashion. An active member of the Executive Council at Camp Hill, he provides support with visitations and with the organizing of outings of Veterans to outside Legion Branches. Mr. Waters organizes all memorial and Provincial Remembrance Day services on behalf of Camp Hill Veterans. In 1995, Mr. Waters coordinated the 50th Anniversary of D-Day and received an award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to its overwhelming success. Over the years, Mr. Waters has been presented with several awards in recognition of his outstanding devotion to Veterans and for ensuring that the memory of their sacrifice is never forgotten.
