Tom Douglas

Mr. Douglas is an author and historian. He has authored four best selling books about Canada's military heritage: Canadian Spies, D Day, Great Canadian War Heroes, and Valour at Vimy Ridge. He has also ghost-written the memoirs of a Second World War Squadron Leader as well as those of an Aboriginal ex-member of the Canadian Forces. Under contract to the Canadian Forces Leadership Institute, he edited profiles of Canadian soldiers awarded medals of valour for heroic acts in Afghanistan for a book that will soon be published. Mr. Douglas has been involved in organizing pilgrimages to Europe, for both the 50th anniversary of D Day and for the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Holland. In 2005, he was part of the Veterans Affairs Canada media delegation reporting on the 60th anniversary of Holland's liberation. Mr. Douglas is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #114. As a member of the Memory Project, Mr. Douglas visits elementary and secondary schools to talk about Veterans and their contributions to Canada. He also speaks to service clubs, universities, and museums about Canadian military history.
