Mr. Tom Martin is a Veteran of the Canadian Armed Forces and is heavily involved in the community, both with Veterans and with the community as a whole. For a number of years Mr. Martin has been an active visitor to many Veterans at the Broadmead Lodge of Victoria and has been an active supporter and organizer of the Broadmead Lodge’s annual golf tournament. He also serves as president of The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada Association, Vancouver Island branch, and as national vice-president of The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada Association. The association is a focal point for Veterans of the regiment to keep in touch across the country. Mr. Martin assists many Veterans in their correspondence with Veterans Affairs Canada to ensure deserved benefits are applied for and received. He also helps Veterans navigate the health-care system, bringing them to appointments and hospital visits, and helping with securing or providing home care when needed. Mr. Martin has helped many Veterans in their difficult times and has shown remarkable compassion and commitment. Mr. Martin also organizes Remembrance Day ceremonies and helps to ensure that Veterans are able to attend.
