Tremaine Sampson

Mr. Sampson is a Canadian Forces Veteran. He joined the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #83 (Florence) in 1962, and has held various positions leading to four terms as branch president. Notably, he served on a committee which raised thousands of dollars to assist a group of Veterans and seniors who were burned out of their homes. Mr. Sampson has served as one of two service officers of his branch for the past 25 years and provided invaluable assistance to Veterans and family members. His efforts have been ongoing to ensure they receive any and all benefits to which they are entitled. Mr. Sampson is actively involved in Remembrance Day events, including school visits and the Poppy Campaign. He visits Veterans in hospital and attends memorial services and funerals. Mr. Sampson is one of two liaison officers between the Cape Breton District and Veterans Affairs Canada arranging seminars to keep the 26 service officers on Cape Breton Island informed of new legislation or policy developments. Mr. Sampson is a life member of his Branch and has been awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Palm Leaf.
