Vera Sherlock

LaSalle, Quebec

Mrs. Sherlock has been an integral part of the Royal Canadian Legion’s Ladies Auxiliary for more than 55 years. During this time, she has served as second vice-president, first vice-president and president, and has been involved with hosting and organizing bazaars, dances and other special occasions for the benefit of the Veteran community. Mrs. Sherlock’s dedication to supporting Veterans also extends to her involvement with Ste. Anne’s Hospital. For the past 40 years, Mrs. Sherlock has visited Veterans in this hospital, bringing along other Legion volunteers to spend time, share stories and spread cheer to the Veterans. Over Christmas, Mrs. Sherlock also delivers gifts to those in the hospital, and has arranged for “Santa” to do so along with her. Building on this selfless commitment, for the past 37 years, Mrs. Sherlock has organized a “Vets Day” in April. This is a day that brings members of the Royal Canadian Legion together in their branch for music, food, celebrations, and the sharing of memories.
