Mr. Nordquist served as an Aero Engine Technician with the Royal Canadian Air Force for more than 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Corporal. He is entering his fourth consecutive year as the President of 801 Wing, Air Force Association of Canada (AFAC). A significant amount of Mr. Nordquist's time and attention is given to personally visiting Veterans at the George Derby and Brock Fahrni Veterans' Care Centres. He and another 801 Wing member ensure memorial services are provided to the wards. Mr. Nordquist is a member of the organizing committee and has attended Vancouver's main Remembrance Day Services for years where he lays a wreath on behalf of the AFAC. Under Mr. Nordquist's leadership and tenure with the AFAC, various parades have taken place involving Air Cadet Squadrons at locations in the Metro Vancouver area. The Battle of Britain Parade now includes 800 cadets, cadet officers, Air Cadet band and Squadron Colour Parties, as well as non-marching Veterans. 801 Wing has held fundraisers to equip an Air Cadet Squadron with its own flight simulator equipment. In addition, in 2007, 801 Wing successfully organized the first military band concert as a fund-raiser in support of Brock Fahrni and air cadets of all 3 services.
