Mr. Jones has been a loyal member of The Royal Canadian Legion since 1953. He is Chairman for Zone 7, City of Dartmouth ' Eastern Passage for the Central Region Seniors games, in which over 200 seniors participate. An active volunteer for many years with the Centennial Legion and the Seniors Centre, he is presently the visiting Chairman of the Royal Canadian Legion Hospital Fund for Provincial Veterans, which supports Veterans during their stay in Metro-area hospitals. He provides advice to widows and widowers of Veterans regarding the Last Post Fund and gives selflessly to the well-being of Veterans by visiting the sick and supporting the Meals on Wheels program. As group commander for Dartmouth Veterans, Mr. Jones participates in the Veterans Service at Mount Saint Vincent Mother House, in Halifax. Mr. Jones has been involved in several fund-raisers and has been instrumental in raising $1.5 million for the construction of the Dartmouth Lawn Bowling Clubhouse.
