Wilfred Leach

Mr. Wilfred Leach has been a member of Branch 120 of the Royal Canadian Legion for the past 58 years, of which he served as Sgt-at-Arms for 16 years. Mr. Leach has received numerous distinctions from the Legion including its highest honour, the Meritorious Service Medal. He has spent countless hours helping Veterans in his role as Service Officer for more than 20 years. He has also been a trustee of the Poppy Fund for more than 20 years and has served on the Honours and Awards Committee. A cancer survivor, Mr. Leach was motivated to become the Captain of the Legionnaires team for the 2002 Relay for Life in Nipawin. He and nine members of the team raised several thousands dollars to aid in cancer research. For more than 40 years, each November, Mr. Leach has made arrangements for himself, other Veterans and in some instances, First World War Veterans, to speak with primary and secondary school children. Mr. Leach has also been active with the Orange Lodge and Rural Crime Watch. Considered a quiet and unassuming gentleman, Mr. Leach is always there when he is needed.
