Mr. Haynes retired from the Canadian Forces in 1976 having served in Germany, Korea, Cyprus and various locations within Canada. He joined the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans in Canada in 1998 and was a dedicated, active member until his untimely death in 2006. Mr. Haynes served on several committees and on their executive. Mr. Haynes was chairman of a committee which raised the funds for the purchase of a van for the Veterans Wing of the Fredericton Hospital. Mr. Haynes delivered Christmas baskets to ailing and shut-in Veterans and their dependents. He was also very involved with the Memory Project. Many individuals looked to Mr. Haynes for advice and help and he has been greatly missed by his comrades since his passing five years ago.
