William Hogg

Mr. Hogg is a retired Canadian Forces Veteran. He is a member of The Streetsville Overseas Veterans Club Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Branch #139 and has been a member since 2006. He volunteers as the Service and Seniors Officer and is instrumental in helping Veterans receive the pensions they are due. He also works diligently to see that necessary medical equipment is issued to those who require aid. Mr. Hogg has contacted the management of local nursing homes and seniors residences in the Streetsville area to identify any Veterans in their care and ascertain if these Veterans would like to have contact. He developed a kit for these organizations to conduct a Remembrance Day Service on their premises. Mr. Hogg is the Cadet Liaison Officer of his local RCL branch, and he served as the Legion representative on the Board of Directors of the new Mississauga Cadet Centre that opened in 2011. He is a member of the Branch Bingo Committee, which organizes 52 bingo sessions each year, the proceeds of which go to support Cadet Corps. Mr. Hogg was the initiator behind turning one of his RCL branch's memorabilia display cases into a tribute to the Cadet Corps. He co ordinates with the Commanding Officers of each Cadet Corps to provide sentinels to serve at the Cenotaph for his local Remembrance Day Service. Mr. Hogg arranges for Cadets from each Corps to lay a wreath on Remembrance Day and for them to assist with the Poppy Campaign.
