William Lilly

Petawawa, Ontario

Mr. William Lilly served in the Canadian Forces for 30 years, retiring in 1984. Since that time, he worked tirelessly for Veterans and others in the Petawawa area. Mr. Lilly is well-known within the community for his work with Meals on Wheels and Civic Centre Days. His work with Meals on Wheels has put him in touch with many Veterans, and he has assisted them in obtaining medals and Veterans' benefits. Mr. Lilly has been a member of the local Royal Canadian Legion for the past 33 years. He has served in a number of capacities with the Legion including being a member of the Colour Party and Branch President for five years. Also taking an interest in youth, Mr. Lilly often speaks to school children about the significance of Remembrance Day. He is a Founding Member of the Petawawa Horticultural Society and he has helped plant and maintain the flower beds at the local cenotaph for the past fifteen years.
