William Lloyd Jones

Mr. William Lloyd Jones is a Veteran of the Second World War. He is a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion and a 23-year volunteer with the Delta Police Department. He has served as president of his Legion branch and continues to sit on the executive. Mr. Jones visits Veterans in local hospitals and care facilities daily. During his visits, he often assists Veterans and their families with their applications for benefits to which they may be entitled. He has also helped Veterans with their applications for honours and recognitions, including assisting two local Veterans in obtaining the French Legion of Honour. For many years, Mr. Jones has been director of the Amos Ferguson Foundation, which provides Legion-sponsored housing in Langley, British Colombia. Mr. Jones has also been present at Veterans’ Week events and Remembrance Day celebrations for many years, laying wreaths and speaking to local schools and service clubs about Veterans and their sacrifices. Presently, Mr. Jones is best known for his presence and great success during the Legion’s annual Poppy Campaign. During the two-week poppy drive, Mr. Jones is a nearly permanent fixture, standing outside local stores in all sorts of weather for seven hours a day selling poppies and collecting donations.
