Mr. Needham is a Veteran of the Second World War and a former prisoner of war. Mr. Needham had two tours of operation flying with a Canadian Spitfire Squadron. After the war, Mr. Needham was a founding member of the Saskatchewan Fighter Pilots Association and has been secretary for more than 30 years. He is active with the Canadian Fighter Pilots Association and has been secretary of the Western Canada Fighter Pilots for the last 10 years, as well as responsible for many of their reunions across Western Canada. Mr. Needham spearheaded the Wynyard Air Cadet Squadron and was a supply officer for several years. He is a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion, where he is a past president and has served as secretary for the past 25 years. Mr. Needham visits local schools and takes part in Legion activities. Mr. Needham was the editor and publisher of the Wynyard Advance weekly newspaper for more than 30 years. He has been honoured with the Queen's Golden Jubilee Medal and The Royal Canadian Legion Meritorious Service Medal.
