Mr. Guertin is a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran and a Veteran of the Korean War. He is a member of the Ottawa Naval Club Association where he served in a number of positions including first vice-president. In 1990, he joined Unit 7 of the Korea Veterans Association of Canada, and has served in a number of offices, including first vice-president. Mr. Guertin is also a member of Branch 593 of The Royal Canadian Legion, where he is a devoted member of the Branch Colour Party as well as the National Colour Party. He has served as captain of the Poppy Campaign for The Royal Canadian Legion in Nepean, Ontario. Mr. Guertin is instrumental in enrolling new members in Veterans’ organizations and in helping them obtain the assistance from Veterans Affairs Canada that they are entitled to. His dedication and outstanding service to Veterans were recognized in June 2012, when he was awarded the Branch Legion Medal.
