Mr. Melbourne is a retired Canadian Air Force Officer who continues to serve his country. Since retirement, he has served in many capacities with the Air Force Association, including as Alberta provincial director, national vice president and currently as the national president. As the national president, Mr. Melbourne has reasserted the influence of the association, coupling the requirements of the association with the needs of Veterans and their families. Mr. Melbourne serves on the Calgary Stampede Board and is the liaison between the City of Calgary and #4 Wing Cold Lake, Alberta. Recently, he served as vice chairman on a committee that helped install a larger-than-life bronze statue in the City of Calgary honouring all Alberta Airmen and Airwomen who lost their lives between 1939 and 1945. Mr. Melbourne also serves as a volunteer with the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping (CANVUP). His “corporate memory” and accompanying advice is highly valued and sought by Veterans and Veterans’ organizations. Mr. Melbourne is a long-time member of The Royal Canadian Legion and currently serves as director on the Board of the Royal Alberta United Services Institute.
