Kenneth Garbutt

Regina, Saskatchewan

Mr. Garbutt is a Veteran of the Korean War and has been very active in the Veteran community since 1969 when he joined The Royal Canadian Legion. Mr. Garbutt is also a member of the Korea Veterans Association and has held numerous positions in the Association including, Unit President, Saskatchewan Regional President, Prairie Region Vice- President and President and National Council Member. In 2000, Mr. Garbutt was also the Canadian representative to the International Korea War Veterans Assembly in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Mr. Garbutt has volunteered his time serving with numerous other organizations such as the Royal United Services Institute, Army Cadet League, Canadian Corps of Commissionaires and Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping. He has been a member of the Veterans Affairs Canada advisory council for south Saskatchewan since 2001 and prairie region since 2002. He is the president of the Saskatchewan/Manitoba Branch of the Last Post Fund having been a member since 1992 and a member of the National Council since 2005. As a member of The Royal Canadian Legion's speaker's bureau, Mr. Garbutt speaks to students throughout the year. Since 2001, he has been co-chair of the Remembrance Day service in Regina and has been involved with numerous commemorative events in his community.
