8.01 - Visual Acuity and Table
Visual acuity shall be assessed in accordance with the Table to Article 8.01 as corrected by eyeglasses or other prosthesis.

8.02 - Errors of Refraction
- Errors of refraction which are correctable with glasses to 6/ 12 or better are not considered to be an assessable disability.
- Progressive myopia with degenerative changes is considered to be a disabling condition.

8.03 - Aphakia
Aphakia, absence of the lens of an eye, shall be assessed in accordance with the Table to Article 8.03.

Assessment for aphakia depends on the mode of correction:
- Spectacles
- Contact lens
- Lens implant

Correction with spectacles:
15% - 1. One eye normal, other eye aphakic, correctable to 6/ 9 or better.
20% - 2. Both eyes aphakic, correctable to 6/ 9 or better.
35% - 3. One eye blind, other eye aphakic, correctable to 6/ 9 or better.

Correction with contact lens, or;

Implant - refer to the Table to Article 4.01 (Visual Acuity).
8.04 - Diplopia
Constant, uncorrectable diplopia - 25%.
8.05 - Trauma
- Total loss of vision of eye - 30%*.
- Loss of eye (enucleation) - 40%*.
*Fixed in the Table for puposes of Fixed Disability Age Increase.

8.06 - Visual Field Defects
Visual field defects shall be assessed in accordance with the Table to Article 8.06.
