They were a wonderful team and all the men had great respect for them. And Tilley, he seemed to be like a father to them. He looked after them really well and McIndoe was, of course, the head man but he was full of fun too. They thought of them not only as patients but they thought of them after they were... you k now, they really cared for them. They had a wonderful feeling for all their patients but McIndoe was, he would try and get them jobs. He would go to his friends and say, “Well, you know, so and so is a very good person!” and he didn’t want any of his boys to be standing on the street begging. He wanted them all to have a job and most of them did. He just believed in, well, what he could do. And he was asked many times how he managed to do what he did and he said, “I don’t know,” he said, “I think God came down my right arm and helped me.”
