Mr. Spackman describes what he thinks the reasons should be for fighting for ones country.
Dale Spackman
Mr. Spackman was born into a farming family but, due to the death of his father when he was very young he was raised in Stirling, Alberta. Mr. Spackman joined the air force and served in North Africa and the Mediterranean. Mr. Spackman was shot down and taken as a POW. After being moved around within Europe he was eventually rescued and returned to England.

This is a hell of a good country, I think it was worth it all. And I'm glad I didn't get killed but I, I think that's one of the things you should, absolutely should do, is fight for your own bl- bloody country. Not do like they're fighting now, they don't even, they're not fighting for their country, they're, they're fighting for everything else. No, I'd, I think. No I, I... There's only one thing I did it, and for all the country I've seen boy, I've been all over. I've even been in Cairo, Egypt and places like that, you know. And for all the country I've seen, I told the wife one day, I says "I'd do it all over again," and she says, I says, "there's only one thing that I'd change", and she says, "What's that? " And I says, "The night I got shot down, I would have booked off sick."
