Mr. Goettler expresses his feelings for his late friend Bud Wilson, who died in the war. Respecting Bud, Mr. Goettler explains, is what Remembrance Day is about for him.
George Angus Goettler
George Angus Goettler was born in Palmerston, Ontario on October 23rd in 1923. Mr. Goettler’s father had a grocery store where he, his two brothers and his sister worked. He had a second sister who died at a young age. Mr. Goettler served as a wireless operator, radar operator and tail gunner with the 160 Squadron. After completing their tour, Mr. Goettler’s crew was put on a rest tour where they tested aircrafts. After the war, Mr. Goettler returned to the grocery business, running his own store in Palmerston, Ontario.

Interviewer: Remembrance Day, November the 11th. What does that day mean to you? It means that I have to... I can’t... respect Bud Wilson¼ more than anything. I don’t know why … after sixty-one years¼Interviewer: That must be bad, must be rough. What does, is there anything else that you’d like to add, any other memories that you’d like to add, anything you’d like to say about Bud, or anything else. About what? Interviewer: About Bud, or about what kind of person he was, or...Bud? No, nothing I think I better stay off him.
