Son of Joseph Drolet and Philomène Desbiens, of Manchester, New Hampshire, and Baie-St-Paul, Charlevoix. He stated being born on 1 May 1880 when he enlisted.
Enlisted in the 178th Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force, he was assigned to the 150th Battalion of the Mount Royal Carabiniers on September 20, 1916. On the 23rd, he left for Great Britain, arriving in Liverpool, England, on October 6. Transferred to the 22nd Battalion on December 5, he rejoined his unit in France on the 6th. On November 9, 1917, he was slightly wounded in combat.
On 1 April 1918, in the trenches of Mercatel, France, he was mortally wounded by a piece of enemy shell. He was evacuated to No. 6 Canadian Field Ambulance in Bac-du-Sud, near Bailleulval, where he died the next day.

Bailleulval is a village in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais about 13 kilometres south-west of Arras, and the BAC-DU-SUD BRITISH CEMETERY is one kilometre west of the village on the north side of the main road from Arras to Doullens (N25)
