Son of Thomas and Harriet Hodgson, of Pearceley, Ontario. He listed his civilian occupation as farmer and was single. Joining the 37th Battalion until he was transferred on 18 May 1916 to the 2nd Canadian Pioneers. Pte Hodgson is commemorated on a memorial in Magnetawan, Ontario having made the supreme sacrifice.
