This shows the plaque bearing Walter Ridout's name. He was born in Streatham, London. He joined the Royal Sussex Reg. 8th Reserve Cyclists Bn. on 12th November 1914. He had previously lived in Vancouver B.C. for a number of years. On 25th June 1915, he was discharged and immediately joined the C.E.F. at Southwold in Suffolk. At the time of his enlistment his family was living in the Stockwell area. He was a shoemaker by trade.
