Son of Frédérick and Gabrielle Damois, of Le Hâvre, Normandy, France. He named his sister Alice as heiress.

A Canadian customs form indicating he immigrated in Canada on 30 March 1913 in Saint John, New Brunswick and the age matches what he stated when he enlisted.

Baptized Maurice Frédéric Alexandre Damois, he enlisted at Camp Sarcee in Willow Bunch with the 233rd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. On 1 March 1917, he was posted to the 178th Battalion and landed in England on the 15th. On arrival, he was integrated into the 10th Reserve Battalion and transferred to the 22nd Battalion on 5 June 1917. On the 7th, he set foot in France. From 23 June to 3 July 1917, he was on loan to the 2nd Canadian Entrenchment Battalion. Returning to the 22nd Battalion, he was killed in action on 18 August 1917 during the Battle of Lens, France, on Hill 70 near Cité Saint-Laurent, in the capture of Catapult Trench.
