Son of John Robert Hickman and Lucy Lee of Grand Bank, Burin, Newfoundland.

 

The Douglas Haig sailed from St. John's, Newfoundland, for Alicante, Spain, and was reported missing on 1 February 1917. Neither the ship nor the five crew members were seen again. No German warship has claimed to have sunk her.
