His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -
Photo of ARTHUR SIDNEY ROBERTS
The Cpl standing is Arthur Sidney Roberts. My great-grandfather. The boy standing is my grandfather, later CSM Thomas Lewellyn Roberts, Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. The toddler is my great-uncle (brother of Thomas), Maj William Lewellyn Roberts. (Bill Roberts), also of the SHoC. If you are aware of a famous photo of an officer driving a motorcycle thru the town of Apeldoorn, laden with three women as well, in the Netherlands on their liberation day, that officer is (then Capt) W.L. Roberts. That image was later produced into a national postage stamp by the Dutch government to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the liberation. (1995) -
