Son of Henry Robert and Emma (nee Honess) Hewson of Bromley-By-Bow, London East, England. Married Maria Brown on August 1, 1903 and sailed for Toronto, Ontario with their two sons Pearce and Hayward on February 7, 1913. In a letter from France to his wife dated September 17, 1916 he said "...we have them on the run now". A month later he was killed.
