Irvine, James Frederick - Flight Sergeant. Born 1st January, 1917, at St. Catharines, Ont. Educated at St. Catharines Public Schools, and Collegiate Institute and Vocational School. Entered the service of the Bank 5th July, 1934. Served at Thorold, Port Dalhousie and St. Catharines, Ont. Enlisted 3rd June, 1941, from St. Catharines in R.C.A.F. Sergeant Pilot in January, 1942; Flight Sergeant in July, 1942. Trained at Goderich and Brantford, Ont. Overseas early in 1942. Attached R.A.F. Reported missing after air operations over Du'ssddorf on 11th September, 1942. Officially presumed dead 3rd June 1943. His Wing Commander wrote: "Flight Sergeant Irvine was one of our most efficient pilots and a member of one of our best crews. He did his duty well." <br><i>From a memorial booklet prepared by the Canadian Bank of Commerce.</i> -
