Circumstances of death registers
The War Graves Register (Form E-13) for Lieutenant Yerxa reports that his battlefield burial location was at trench map coordinates 57c.S.16.c.3.2 (to 3.5). In the event that you are researching this Lieutenant, the trench map coordinates are reported incorrectly. At the time of his death, Lieutenant Yerxa was with the 50th Infantry Battalion at Hill 145 on the second day of the assault on Vimy Ridge. The correct map for that location is 36c and not 57c, so the remains would have been buried at 36c.S.16.c.3.2 (to 3.5). -
Memorial
His name as it is inscribed on the Vimy Memorial. Over 11,000 fallen Canadians having no known place of burial in France, are honoured on this Memorial. May they never be forgotten. (J. Stephens) -
