He had a brother who fought in Europe during World War II and survived the conflict.
Enlisted in the Voltigeurs de Québec, he embarked on July 21, 1943, for Great Britain, where he landed on the 28th in Greenock, Scotland. Assigned to the Mediterranean theater of operations on January 12, 1944, he landed in Italy on February 6 after being transferred to the Royal 22nd Regiment on January 27. He was killed in action on September 15, 1944, during an assault on Mount Marano, Italy. He served for 1,166 days, including 422 overseas.
