Company Sergeant Dudley Gordon Wright was initially listed as an UNKNOWN for the Menin Gate Memorial. His remains were recovered on 3 January 1927 and buried in Plot 3 Row B Grave 25 at the Sanctuary Wood Cemetery. Volume 1 of Norm Christie's Book "Sacred Places" (page 187) shows that the renaming of the UNKNOWN was made in 1992 when Norm Christie was the CWGC Chief Records Officer. -

Company Sergeant Dudley Gordon Wright was initially listed as an UNKNOWN for the Menin Gate Memorial, as shown by this form. His identity was discovered by Norm Christie in 1992 and a new headstone was erected in the Sanctuary Wood Cemetery. -

SANCTUARY WOOD CEMETERY Belgium
SANCTUARY WOOD CEMETERY is located 5 Km east of Ieper town centre, on the Canadalaan, a road leading from the Meenseweg (N8), connecting Ieper to Menen.
From Ieper town centre the Meenseweg is located via Torhoutstraat and right onto Basculestraat. Basculestraat ends at a main cross roads, directly over which begins the Meenseweg.
3 Km along the Meenseweg lies the right hand turning onto Canadalaan. The cemetery itself is located 1.5 Km along Canadalaan on the right hand side of the road. 100 metres beyond the cemetery at the end of the Canadalaan is the Hill 62 Memorial.
