Sgt. Carter took part in the invasion of Sicily on July 10, 1943, and was wounded on that day and died two days later on the Hospital Ship St. David.

ENFIDAVILLE WAR CEMETERY Tunisia
The town of Enfidaville is 100 kilometres south of Tunis on the main coast road. The ENFIDAVILLE WAR CEMETERY is 1 kilometre west of the town centre, on the road to Zaghovan, and its approaches are well signposted. It is immediately south of the small civil cemetery.
