Enrolled on July 15th, 1940 in the 2nd Battalion North Shore (MG) Regiment, D Company - NPAM - in Bathurst, New Brunswick, in the 1st Battalion Royal Rifles of Canada on August 29th, 1940, he served in Nova Scotia, Québec, Newfoundland with W Force, Hong Kong with C Force.
