From "The Toronto Telegram", December 1944: Captain Smuck "Went into France on D-Day, was posted as missing June 11, 1944, and was officially presumed killed in action nine months later. Captain Smuck was a patrol sergeant on the Toronto police force before enlisting in 1939."

RYES WAR CEMETERY Calvados, France
Leave Bayeux on the D12 to the east; at the village of Sommervieu carry straight on, following the D112, and after 3 kilometres turn right on to the D87. After climbing round a bend to the left, the cemetery will be found on the left hand side.
