Baptized Joseph Gérard Dion. Son of Charles Doiron and Lorette (alias Laura) Duguay of Maltempec, New Brunswick. He sailed for Great Britain on April 4, 1944, arriving on the 11th. Assigned to Force M, he embarked for Italy, where he landed on the 16th. Integrated into the 4th Battalion of the Royal 22nd Regiment, he went to the front line on August 24, 1944. He was killed in action on September 1, 1944, during the Battle of Borgo Santa Maria. He was first buried on the 2nd in Pesaro, then exhumed and reburied on March 22, 1945, in Montecchio. He had served 347 days, including 150 overseas.
