Son of Garfield Arthur Dixon and Alice Hazel Lund, of Sackville, Westmorland, New Brunswick.

Brother of Sergeant Carman Garfield Dixon, regimental number R-50089, accidentally drowned on April 15, 1943, at Chebogue Harbour, near the base at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, while serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force.

On January 16, 1940, at 4:19 p.m., the Inverdargle was sailing unescorted in the Bristol Channel in North Wales when she struck a mine laid by U-33 on November 9, 1939. She broke in two and sank in position 51°16'N/03°43'W. The captain and 48 crew members lost their lives.
