Son of Joseph Elzéar and Amanda Rousseau of Windsor Mills, Richmond, Québec.

On November 16, 1942, he was assigned to a Royal Canadian Artillery training camp and sent to Halifax, Nova Scotia, then to Chicoutimi, Saguenay, Quebec, Bedford Bay, near Halifax, Gaspé, Quebec, and Isle-Maligne in Alma, Quebec. He arrived in Great Britain on September 19, 1943. On May 3, 1944, he was transferred to the Royal 22nd Regiment and left for Italy on the 4th, where he landed on the 16th. On the 28th, he joined the 4th Battalion. He was killed in action on December 2, 1944, on the banks of the Lamone River near Russi. He was buried along the road northwest of Russi in grave number 4. His body was exhumed and reburied in the Ravenna cemetery on December 30.
