Son of William John Rose and Susan Grace Fiander from North Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.

After leaving Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 12 December 1940 with convoy SC-19 for Liverpool, Lancashire, England, on 29 January 1941, at 7:15 am, away from the other ships, she was torpedoed by U-106 and sank in ten minutes by the bow, position 56°00'N/15°23'W. Of the crew, whose number is unknown, there were no survivors.
