Son of William Bridges Scott and Ether Florence Aird from Westmount (Montréal today), Québec.

On 11 March 1943, Brant County was en route from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Newport, England, with convoy HX-228 when she was torpedoed at 5:03 am by U-86. She sank after a violent explosion in position 52°05'N/27°35'W. The attack cost the lives of 35 people, including 8 military passengers. The survivors were rescued by the British cargo ship SS Stuart Prince 30 minutes later.
