His real surname was Dubois, anglicized by his father to Woods.

Son of Eugene Louis Bernard Dubois (aka Woods), from St-Pierre-et-Miquelon, and Alice Ursula Park, from Brakes Cove, Newfoundland.

On 10 May 1942, at 3:10 am, she was sailing unescorted when she was torpedoed by U-588 35 miles (56 km) south-east of Cape des Sables, Nova Scotia, and sank in twenty minutes, position 42°56'N/63°59'W.
