Son of Thomas Roy and Célina Lacasse (deceased in 1894, in the USA), of Augusta, Maine, and then moved to St-Pierre-Baptiste, Mégantic, Québec. He served during several months at the front with the 22nd Battalion before being transferred as a machine-gunner.
