Son of David Dakers and Betsy Jane Jolly, of Montrose, Angus, Scotland. Husband of Jessie Maude Jackson, of Fettercairn, Kincardineshire, Scotland.

On 15 May 1918, Tagona was en route from Bilbao, Spain, to Glasgow, Scotland, when she was torpedoed 5 miles (8 km) west-southwest of Trevose Head, England, by U-55. She sank in the Celtic Sea with eight crew members, position 50°29'N/05°07'W.
