A Veteran on my street

Meow! I am Simone the cat. I enjoy slowly walking in my neighbourhood on a sunny day. There are nice people on my street. I like to stop at the yellow house on the corner to meet Caroline. She gently pets my fur.

Caroline is a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. She works on a navy ship. Caroline is a sailor. Sometimes, she is away on her ship for many months. I miss her when she is away from home.

Caroline will retire from the military next year. A person who leaves the Canadian Armed Forces becomes a Veteran. So next year, she will be a Veteran. Then I can stop more often at the yellow house. Caroline will give me extra scratches behind my ears!
