What is war?

Bonfire Jr. the horse

Hi, I’m Bonfire Jr. the horse. Wars happen when big groups of people fight. Sometimes whole countries fight each other.

Wars are scary. People can get hurt. Animals can get hurt too. No one who has been in a war wants to see more of them. But sometimes Canadians have to fight to protect us. They have also protected people in other countries.

The Second World War is one example. This huge conflict happened a long time ago. Many Canadians had to travel across the oceans to fight.

D-Day was a very important moment in the Second World War. That day, many Canadians and soldiers from other Allied countries landed on the coast of France.

They were there to help free people who were suffering a lot. Many service members died. The people of France are very thankful that Canadians came to help and so am I. We will never forget our heroes.
