Warrant Officer Jason Ritchie and Petty Officer 2nd Class David Cox of the Canadian Armed Forces made a joint presentation to North Grenville Council in June of 2010 and requested a North Grenville Municipal flag to hoist at the entrance to Camp David in Afghanistan during their tour of duty. On the conclusion of their rotation, the soldiers returned the flag to the community and formally presented it to Mayor David Gordon and Municipal Council during a special Flag Repatriation Ceremony held on 14 February 2011.

The flag was returned to the Municipality of North Grenville on February 14, 2011. The flag is displayed in the entrance to the Municipal Centre and represents the Municipality's support of the men and women who served in Afghanistan.
